Sicily, Sardinïa, Elba, Tuscany, Naples

Sicily, a melting pot of cultures, influenced by the dominion of the Greeks, Phoenician, Carthago, Romans, Arabians, Normans and Spain. The Etna, the gorgeous bays, the amazing coast: lovely. Leaving from Palermo to the east, passing the picturesque fishing village Cefalu. The Aëolic Islands, at 35 nm from the coast, of which Vulcano with natural mudbaths and Stromboli  the vulcano island are the most popular.Ports are not so perfectly protected but there are enough safe bays and anchorages, sufficiently protected against the winds to sail round the islands. During summer the wind frequently blows from the NW sometimes turning to the W but seldom to the NE. The isle of Ustica lies northern from Palermo.

Marsala a nice and cosy port from where the Egad Islands in the NW are worth sailing to: Levanzo, Marettimo, Favignana or in the south Pantelleria and Lampedusa. From Marsala cross over to Malta (120nm) and Tunesïa.
