The Virgin Islands at the east of Puerto Rico round the “Sir Francis Drake Channel” wellknown for a good and sheltered sailing area with no tides. You'll sail on sight, the islands are at about 15 M or less from eachother. The total area is about 40 miles. The wind blows SE-NE during summer and NE (2-5 B) during winter with sometimes very strong winds in July -Oct.
Tortola offers
you excellent facilities. Alongside the northcoast there are beaches and
anchorages at Long Bay, Little Apple Bay, Carrot Bay and Cane Garden Bay.
The southcoast is hilly and wooded.
Worth a visit at Tortola : Cane Garden Bay, rum Distillery, the botanical
gardens in Road Town
To visit at the other islands: the caves at Norman Island , the 19th century coppermine and the nature reserve “Little Fort National Park “ at Virgin Gorda , the wreck the "Rhone" at Salt Island , the Jost van Dijke island, named after the Dutch pirat, Cooper Island , Anegada : be careful ! difficult to navigate between the riffs!
The Leeward Islands The

St Maarten – St Martin is half French, half Dutch. The smallest area in the
world split by two sovereign states. Marigot is the French capital. The uncountable
bays are ideal anchorages .
Islands at the north: Anguilla with
coral riffs and white beaches.
Snorkelarea : Prikley Pear Cays.
Islands at the south: St Barths populated by filmstars and intern. jet-set.
St. Eustatius with its 700m high vulcano.
Guadeloupe or the Emeraldislands consist of two parts: Grande Terre (east) and Basse Terre (west). The most gorgeous sandbeaches are on the southcoast of Grande Terre and in the north of Basse Terre. Islands nearby are Marie – Galante with the rumdistellery and the Muratcastle. Dominica has still some untouched nature: Cabrits National park, Carib post, Trefalgar waterfalls, Scott's Head underwaterpark. Iles des Saintes. Pigeon Islands where you can dive and snorkel in the Cousteau underwaterpark.
The Windward Islands They are diagonal on the eastern trade winds so you can easily sail from north to south. The wind blows SE-NE during summer and NE ( 2-5B) during winter with sometimes very strong winds in July-Oct. , current in westly direction.
Martinique with as capital Fort de France gives us an American impression. Le Diamant is surely worth a visit, it's a rock in the sea populated by thousands of birds. In the NW of the island you'll find theMount Pelle, the famous vulcano. Anse d'Arlet is a popular and photogenic anchorage.
St. Lucie is one of the loveliest islands on the Carabean, vulcanic mountains, tropical rainforest, bananaplantations, flowers and plants... Not as touristical as the other islands but the capital Castries is very modern and lies at the NW coast in a beautiful bay. North of Castries, a new harbour Rodney Bay. Here you'll find Reduit Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches there. South of the Castries is Marigot Bay a popular anchorage.
St Vincent is a tranquil island with a recently built marina, not a lot of tourists. All beaches consist of black lavasand.
