The Thames estuary (3 to
7 days, London 5 days)
From Ramsgate or Sheerness you can sail the Thames up to London. You can moor
at St Catherine's dock near the Towerbridge and in the centre of the historical
Docklands. The towncentre is easy to reach from here. Another possibility
is through the historical Kent, sail the Medway River up to Gillingham Marina.
Up the Thames estuary, between Harwich and Felixtone, flows the charming river
Orwell. Alongside the river you'll discover uncountable harbours and lovely
promenades e.g.; the historical Pinn Mill with the famous Thames barges. The
river ends at Ipswich. More in the north is the river Deben on which during
high tide you can reach Woodbrige.
The English Southcoast (
from 5 days on)
With Dover, Eastbourne, Newhaven and the famous Brighton, the biggest and
most modern Marina of the UK. Not far from there The "seven Sisters"
and " Beachy Head" The French harbours are reachable from here:
Fécamp at 65nm, Honfleur at 90nm, Dieppe at 69M.
The Solent (min 1 week, to 10 days)
A real must for sailors, with the beautiful Isle of Wight. The river Hamble,
Cowes, Beaulieu are worth a visit.
The Channel Islands (2 weeks)
Guernsey at 55M from St Malo. St Peter Port is a busy but quite cosy port
of call, where sailors are being welcomed in a friendly way. Herm and Sark
are very nearby. On these islands you'll find no cars. Jersey with its comfortable
and well sheltered marina
St Hélier. Alongside the coast there are lots of interesting
anchorages.
